the sequel is here : they thought it couldn't be done in the first place : now they're doing it in the second place : this time they're organized, well-equipped and a better band : but just as broke : the golden[cow]boy tour will take the band to 8 different states, around 18 different venues, in a van with the tightest budget and schedule in the world : irresponsible? yep! fun? definitely : as last year the tour will have it's own dedicated gossip page : it will be updated on a regular basis : if no reports are received from the band we'll simply make things up back here in norway : you be the judge of truth! keep coming back and we'll keep you posted :

| we use the last night to listen to other people play : a great show with whippersnapper, yellowcard, sugarcult and less than jake : we're not only going to miss touring ourselves when we get back to norway : we're also going to miss seeing shows like this one : great evening and a great finale for our second u.s. tour : over and out : see ya next time!

| supposed to be the big day : show in l.a. : freking hollywood : so how was it? it was, to put it mildly, fucking crap! after a 3 hour drive from san diego, with an excellent pit-stop at carlye's family in anaheim, we reach the cat club a little late : we got stuck in traffic, but being responsible people we call the club to make sure it's ok : "that's alright" is the reply we get and we are thus quite surprised when it turns out the boss is seriously pissed at us for being late and for bringing out own equipment : we're forced on stage without a sound check and the 10 people we bring from s.d. are told by the owner that the club isn't open when they arrive : we get to play a 20-minute show for less than 10 people : traumatised by the extremely monkey-asslike behaviour we immediately forget the name of the owner of the club : but he knows who he is : far too well, actually : anyway, fuck you and fuck your fucking club : big headed, small dicked dick! we decide to head straight back to san diego and bt comes up with the excellent idea that we should pay the rhythm lounge a visit : as it happens tonight's band has cancelled their show : the stage was ours : and we were welcome : talk about a different boss and a different club! we do kind of a private show for our friends and call it a great success : once again our female companions choose to show us their bare bottoms to our great and undivided pleasure : the last show is over : the tour is concluded with close friends : not a bad ending actually :

| three days in one blur : three days without gigs but : quite a few hours doing nothing : fast : we'll spare you the details you've heard for over 30 days now : you know we got drunk so there's no real need to elaborate : we could choose to say that we used the three days to recharge our batteries for the show in la : in a way it would be right : we just picked a horribly mistaken recharger : pooof!

| this is going to be a great day!! we're having a show at winston's in ocean Beach : there's a lot of people and we are giving them what they came to hear: golden poppy rock with a punky twist, norwegian accents and stupid jokes, even some nice ance-steps : Oooh yes, this is a great show : we're doing the song ocean beach for the first time IN ocean beach : people like it, we like it and the only time this evening peoply are unhappy is when we leave the stage : sick! we sell a lot of merch and got a lot of new names on our mailing list : this causes for celebration, so what the hell do you think we do? just one more show to go now, the cat club la on sunday : we're almost done, uhu......

| show at the casbah : big, important question: will the guy from sony music show up? the answer is not a three, but a two letter word: no! but hey, whatever, there were a lot of nice canadian girls there, so we're not complaining... we prepare for the show with a nice, big family dinner at buco di beppo's, an italian restaurant, family style! perfect for us! quite full of chicken parmegianno and red wine, we start the show after a couple of drinks at the casbah : the show is alright, but we're a bit dissapointed with the turnout (not a lot of crazy people, actually not a lot of normal people either...) strict, stupid and silly rules deny sarah the right to watch our show (she's "only 20"!) : she's still listening to us, standing outside the door and actually gets a song dedicated to her, so the maybe the evening was ok after all?

| show at scolari's office : a weird, but cool club : weird when it comes to smell.... cool when it comes to the people hanging there... once again: straight from the amps! we are starting the show (4 bands are playing) : the sound is a bit weird and I guess we are a bit tired, but still we play OK : the people are happy, and we get nice words and free alcohol both from the staff and the crowd : a band called the phuzz as number 3 and I must say: they rocked! the other bands was also quite rocking, but one of them gets quite angry at us, blaming us for playing a too long set.... our apologies!!! we decide to leave scolari's after a while and go back to o.b. to party some more : we're happy and quite drunk at sunshine's when we suddenly realize that we left pNils behind at scolari's : hello????!!! somebody nice & sober (don't remember who...) decides to pick pNils up at the club and we are soon re-united : he actually had a great time without us and the locals took great care of him.....

| yep, we're here :and it's just as nice as the last time : ocean beach! carne asada! surf shops! swimming! beer! (well, they had that some other places too...) beach-soccer! hackysack! tony's! sunshine company! so is this where we do belong? and do they actually miss us at all back in norway? this is life.... gb-way of life that is! show at night in ocean beach : we're playing at the dreamstreet : nice club, but no deal with free alcohol?! we just play for about 30 minutes, but we play a good show : not A LOT of people, but some : and all our beautiful san diego friends are there (you know who you are...) two girls are observed showing their bare asses to the content norwegian boys at stage (pictures WILL come...) so after that, we're introduced to the excellent clubs tony's and sunshine's again: it's just as fun as last summer : the drinks are just as good : and we're behaving the same way.... hasta mañana!

| well : we've been driving for 15 hours and still haven't passed the texas state border??? what kinda country is this? we use all day driving : we stop for a quick bite once in a while, and after getiing out of texas, time actually passes by quite fast.... new mexico and arizona have got a lot of desert!!! and real tigers on a gas-station!! and really bad breakfast at mcdonald's!! and drugs (at the very same gas-station!!) that will keep you awake for a week (don't worry mom, they're absolutely safe....) we reach california and beautiful san diego some time at night : carlye is sleeping and we wake her up to crash on her floor, futons, beds etc : have a good night! we're in califuckinfornia, and we have a show tomorrow!

wow! hangover : wow : wet swimmming trunks.... wow! where are we? wow! : we've got a show tonight! : ashanti has left us, and in comes sarah, who will join us for most of the cali-tour : redblood club-dallas is the next venue ready for goldenboy : a nice club with a nice staff : too bad, there's just 7-8 people to see us : we RAWK once again and have a nice evening : the goldenboys are extremely sober this night - 30 hours in the van is waiting, we're going to california.....

rawk-show in dallas tonight and we wake up fresh and handsome after a good night's sleep and without alcohol the day before (wow!) : we start the day with a little swim in the pool - nice! we use the day as we're used to use the day - shopping, eating and talking shit : we find the club at some point in the afternoon, and it looks ok : once again it's gonna be rockin, it's gonna be loud and it's gonna be straight out of the amps : gb-style! we load the equipment and get ourselves some excellent mexican food next door : back at the cavern, we use our opportunity to drink for free quite well : we catch bits of the first band's show (ooops... can't remember their name!), but they're quite good : there's also a decent crowd at the club : our show is ok, even though some of the people are going home, claiming they have to work tomorrow : we play for about 40 minutes : the mosh pit (3-4 people) consists of friendly, but dangerous people : old erik almost gets his face smashed : time for afterparty.... toke suddenly finds himself in a car, alone with a human being he never has seen before : luckily, he has the time to drag pNils, old erik and g-moNey with him : the afterparty is quite spooky, and we guess our mothers would not approve of it, but we're nice guys and we stick to beer.... we take a cab back to the motel and the g-boys are continuing the party : with nude-volleyball in the pool.... quite gay or what? |

we head back to dallas where we have shows on monday and tuesday : end up in a nice motel with a pool and use the evening recharging our batteries and pretend we're healthy, young norwegians : and that's about it : you see how boring we are when we don't drink?! :

man, if only we'd earn point for the miles we do in our van : we'd all be like fred astaire (?) : we finally arrive in little rock and find midtown billiards : grand greeting : a large banner where the venue welcomes goldenboy from norway : nice : we are vain people : we don't need more than that : but we get it anyway : free food : free beer : and 350 dollars : and a sound-engineer who's worked with ozzy and black sabbath : and an audience : a crowd : not everyone is that interested in the european wannabees, but those who succumb, succumb profoundly : it's the hyper-contagious goldenboy plague : we do a three our gig split into three parts and are pleased with ourselves as the quality and joy increases as we play : little rock seems pleased to have a band in town : goldenboy is happy to be a band : in little rock : we meet a heap of very nice people and everyone agrees that it has been a terrific day : really :

sadness as we have to leave columbus : that's life on the road for you : after taking leave with our new friends (you know who you are!) and after picking up the bag drunk and whimpy torkel forgot at the party the night before, we head for little rock, arkansas : we drive all day and find a place to crash close to nashville : halfway and will have to do the last leg tomorrow : surprisingly early and surprisingly sober to bed :

heavy way to start a day : and especially this day : after the first sip of water in the early hours of the day we're told that we have to do 2 concerts this evening : an all ages show and one for the seemingly adults : in retrospect we all wish we had thought about this the night before : it's just that we didn't know about it : so, the all ages thing is just us : sober : how fun can that be? well, quite damn fun actually : there's people : even mothers : and boys : it's probably obvious that we've had quite the week, but we perform quite well and the crowd responds in a positive way : torkel almost collapses after 2 songs (what a whimp) but they all survive : a very important gig for goldenboy this one : new fans are conquered : a new generation is contaminated : and we make enough money to buy petrol : a couple of hours of rest and it's time for the grown-ups : the audience : not us : and there aren't too many of them : the audience : not us : the people at high 5 are please with us and reward us with free shots : when will people learn? they would be better off offering us goats or fresh cheese : nachspiel at jen's place : content of nachspiel? unknown or censored : whatever :

no plans : we're starting to feel the pace, but laura and sarah (the other sarah...) drag us to the pool where sweaty norwegians get the opporttunity to calm their extraordinary big and swollen heads and beer bellies : the evening is once again devoted to eating as sara's mother invite us to a fantastic italian restaurant where we roll out like cannelloni later in the evening and try to focus on promoting our concert the day after : difficult : once again there's a party to attend : we should stop talking about this :we have mothers, too : some of us even have fathers : we blame this on the price level on beer in the states : something needs to be done : a lot of norwegians are slowly (or quickly) aiming for the gutter because of the cheap alcohol : |

oh mama : what a way to start the day : tired with a slight touch of hangovoers we are treated to a delicious breakfast by aunt greta : the goldenboy aunt : for som e reason we decide to go sightseeing with bud : a very bumpy ride causes ashanti, arlan and whimpy torkel to feel rather car sick, but they manage to keep it in if you know what i mean : a family outing to a local farm and having realised that there's not much seperating us from the pigs, we head for cincinatti and the mad frog, the venue for this night's concert : dramatic ride as the rain start pouring down and lightning almost strikes us (according to whimpy torkel of course...) : we arrive : we like : we play : as do 3 other very good bands : quite a crowd and amongst them our die-hard cincinatti fans : rave reports from people afterwards : the best ones so far : so how to celebrate such an occasion? ah, you know the drill : we use the night to drive back to columbus where sarah and her very nice mother provide us with housing and a general feeling of comfort :

no concert scheduled so we use the day to visit gaute's aunt (yes, we're family people) a hell of a long way's drive to rose hill, virginia : we're greeted with open arms and fridge and we focus on relaxing, eating, drinking and listening to gaute's old tapes : quitge funny to listen to g-money at the age of 6 telling jokes : they pretty much sucked as the ones he's telling nowadays : but children are more charming : gaute, nils and erik are comforted by the fact that it's been three months since anyone has been killed by bears in this area so they spend the night outdoors in a tent : we're unsure whether this is rock and roll or not :

a brisk drive in the early (well...) hours of a new drive and woo-hoo we're in columbus : us-manager arlan with friends and hard-core goldenboy fans are there to greet us and invite us to a bbq-party at laura's : blessed be : free food is never turned down in norway : never : ever : more and more people turn up and after a while it is decided through mutual consent that we will do a small garden-gig on laura's premises : playing straight through the amplifier the sound standing on the lawn barefoot we get great feedback from the very nice bbq-people-friends-associates : we are of course thrilled when the police knock on the door to stop our concert : very punk : rock and roll indeed : america is a great country, but we are still amazed that very evening when we are able to find a combined laundromat and bar : that's clever : very clever : well, end of the story is the same as usual : we end up in a party and we end up drunk : why do you bother to read this?! : thanks a lot to all the great colombus people who made us feel so welcome : you rule :

we sleep the day away : yes, we know the affect these reports have on our mothers : head for the bottle rocket where a bunch of bands are performing : we're impressed by blind luck music and welcome home travis : another gig suffers from technical problems as torkels guitar amplifier decides it's had enough of all his musical shortcomings but we still do a good show for a small crowd : we blame it on the tornado warning : cds and merchandise are handed over like a bakery selling bread before world war III : nice evening although stamped by the the seal of fatigue : the bottle rocket people are good people indeed : thanks to heidi and dave for letting us crash in their mansion : and chris: yes, we are coming back :

we head for chicago (our favorite band by the way.....) where we have our next concert : the nordic gods are punishing us for our excessive lifestyles and let the rain pour to remind us about home, our duties and our student loans : we fart in their general direction and it works : in chicago the sun is out exposing itself and we don't mind : we're liberal people : fireside bowl : an old bowling alley where we're playing with some really good bands, division and brandtson : we really want to do a great show but fuck up when one of torkel's guitar strings decides to commit suicide (thanks to brandtson for the guitar!) : all of a sudden goldenboy is psychedelic rock : which could have been cool if it was out intention : but it wasn't : after a while we stabilize and do an okay set : feedback is good but this time we doubt that people are really frank : we have our first band fight as nils and torkel all of a sudden decide that they're both assholes : unfortunately they also realize that they're more pissed than gaute : so they team up and behave as bad as only people who grow up in storetveitåsen can : you get the picture : we drive all night to toledo where we have our next show and en d up in a motel to sleep for a few hours :

morning has broken : you just can't avoid it : all of a sudden it's just there : way before you expected : your mouth, body and karma still say it's night : but it's not : you just haven't prepared : there is sun : there are people working : and there's you with your giant head : a long drive to st louis and toke fairly quickly gets annoyed by the pink elephants mocking him all over the place : all the time : we get lost and stranded in the middle of missouri when we run low on battery : not only the band members but also the car is struck by a sudden loss of energy : once again the locals save us : everybody is happy except toke who is once again confronted with his his greatest fear : throwing up : during the next 5 hours in the front seat he miraculously recuperates : way past midnight we find fredricks music lounge where we're playing tomorrow night : fred, the good samaritan, offers us free beer and a roof over our big heads : we feel like the three wise men : except we're not three and not too wise, either : anyway : we say yes : with all our hearts : and suddenly fred has made us forget the trip form hell and we're partying with amber dark boch ale and it's five o'clock : in the morning : before we hit the sack we smile as we remember visiting the world's largest mcdonalds : we're culture : we're history : we're art : and we're drunk :

stillwater, oklahoma : after a 5 hour drive we immediately feel like we're in twin peaks : no people : darkness : after a while we settle down and realize that the people and the place are nice : free beer all night and we're once again grateful and humble people : some locals (ta very much melissa, beth, josh and erica) buy us pizza to keep us at sound check : the concert is a long one : we're expected to play for 2-3 hours with breaks : start around 22'ish and there's about 20 people there : kick off is a nervous toke doing his 'always rebecca'-routine with okayish sound : first half is lazy and too laid-back but we get it on after some time : short break and then we start rocking : as does the audience : at the end of the gig the mood is great and we're asked to to some songs from the first half once more : we go crazy : in a good way : bt kicks his drums all over the place : toke suffers fire wounds after serious guitars solos on his knees : very, very nice : we easily get drunk afterwards and get invited to a nachspiel and a sleep-over by some coo people from the audience : unfortunately we have more free beers and in the end we're simply unable to find the house :

a loooong night's sleep and then we head for the door in dallas where we're playing together w all the bands of this city it seems : meet a bunch of nice people and reflect for a moment on why mankind seems to be of better breed and behavior over here : the club is a a tiny little bit too straight for us : no drinking, no swearing, no cursing : not much left of us then : still, we survive, manage to speak and play : we scare a few people off at first as we come on just after a very holy christian band : those who stay on, hopefully aware of the danger of being corrupted and led into temptations of all sort, give us great feedback : we do our shit for half an hour and rock hard : we're very happy with the performance and people promise to come back when we're playing Dallas in aug : the band gone hazel and their producer bob from orange county lift our egos to new heights with their semi-praise : so we praise them back : sound-lady is perfectly happy with us : booking man tells us we were the coolest of all the nine bands that played the two stages : too much for us : we head for indigo again to make sure that the beer really was $2 : we were right : then everything gets blurry : cigarettes, gin and whiskey : not good, but fun :

a rather long drive back "home" to Dallas : fast food, water, soda, sleeping and a whole lot of sweating : we ponder on performing and traveling in the nude from now on : we look at our penises and decide to do more laundry instead : dinner at mexican restaurant w amy jo, a singer/songwriter who's working w our manager arlan : head back to her place where torkel and nils perform a rather untraditional version of pink : keyboard and vocals : embarrassed we listen to the incredible talented Amy JO do her thing afterwards and realize we are but pathetic people : thanks for the hospitality : you really impressed us, especially w your norwegian songwriting skills : afterwards we check out deep ellum, the area where we're laying tomorrow : end up at indigo where we get our paranoia under control with 2 dollar beers : nice :

kick off : we head for houston pretty early : four hours in a car is possible, plausible and even enjoyable if you stop at taco bell : fitzgerald's looks good and we proudly recognize our own photos on the wall : all is playing here this friday : but first goldenboy : nervousness is once again solved by extensive intake of alcohol : we are but shy norwegians : sound check is fine, but when we actually start our gig all is not golden anymore : torkel can't hear a word he's singing (just as well you might think...) : bt has no monitor sound and everything is just fucking loud : still, we are moderately happy w our performance and the fact that we are now officially in business : 110 people, some of them buy merchandise, some join our mailing list : good feedback and good people buy us beer : we talk about scandinavia, our rugged lifestyles and hair products : we listen to the next band , focusyn, nice guys rocking music : we get drunk : we get to bed without wetting them :
