Thammasat - Bergen University International Programme
Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand, in collaboration with the University of Bergen, Norway, offers an annual course in Ethics in Biomedical Research. The course is aimed at researchers, research ethics committee members, graduate students in the biomedical sciences and senior medical students.
Objective
To provide an overview of current ethics in biomedical research, focusing on clinical trials, behavioral and epidemiological research.
Course Contents
Topics to be covered include the structure, roles and functions of research ethics committees, informed consent, evaluation of risks and benefits, inducements, research integrity and special issues on research in developing countries.

Course Format
The course will to a large extent be organized as interactive learning, where the students will work on a number of problem cases which illustrate the main points made in a few introductory lectures. It is a one week intensive course, and comprehensive background material will be provided to the students ahead of the course week. The Faculty include internationally known experts from India, Thailand, the Philippines and Norway.
Course Outcome
The participantas will be able to identify areas of consensus and areas of controversy in today's research ethics, and will be able to find solutions when faced with areas of controversy.
Course Fee: US$ 350

Course fee include: course materials, lunches and tea breaks during the training period, and Thammasat certificate of attendance.
