Annika
B. Myhr (b. 1975 in Oslo) studied Russian and Comparative Literature
in Oslo, Bergen, St Petersburg and Irkutsk and received her
BA in 2003 (University of Bergen). She is currently a graduate
student in the Department of Russian Studies at the University
of Bergen. Her MA thesis focuses on the works of three St. Petersburg
poets. They have been witnessing the profound changes that Russian
society and language has undergone from the 1950s to the present
day, especially in the 1990s. The thesis analyses how these poets
respond to the social and concurrent linguistic changes. The research
relates to the broader themes of linguistic “purity”
and transformation — significant issues of the Russian language
situation of the 1990s.
