The Centre for Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies

The Middle East and the Islamic world is the focus of research in a number of departments and research centres at the University of Bergen. The Centre for Middle Eastern studies works to co-ordinate and create an indisciplinary milieu from the research that is done in the departments, as well as to channel contacts and information between the Bergen research milieus and the outside world.

To further this aim, you will find on this server information both about the activities of the Centre itself - for local scholars and visitors - and surveys and bibliographies of research on the Middle East and Islamic studies carried out in Bergen since the early 1990s.
